Scotland's capital city, seat of Government and home to many national institutions, Edinburgh is one of the most spectacular cities in Europe, as well as being home to the world's largest annual festival of the arts and the famous Edinburgh Tattoo.

Founded as a religious centre by St. Mungo, Glasgow became one of the world's largest shipbuilding and railway locomotive centres in the world in the 19th Century, and is today a major centre of commerce and the largest city in Scotland

Formerly known as the city of the three "J's", namely jute, jam and journalism, Dundee is now renowned for its excellence in biotechnology and medical sciences, as well as for its connections with the Royal Research Ship Discovery

The Granite City, once Europe's largest white fish port and still the busiest centre for oil exploration in Europe, Aberdeen has a dynamism all of its own, with liberal additions of the Doric for good measure

One of our most ancient Royal Burghs but only recently granted city status, Stirling stands at the oldest crossing of the River Forth and was the key to the defence of Scotland in bygone times.

The Capital of the Highlands, Inverness is the crossroads of the north and the centre of many aspects of Highland life. It's also a major tourist centre with year round wind, rain and welcoming attitude. And a monster nearby.

The music you hear is "The Heart of Lothian" by Fish of Marillion fame, who lives near Edinburgh
